Rush was the voice of the silent majority for many years. Like him or not its hard to argue against that for the 90s atleast he virtually single handedly kept the conservative, not Republican, movement alive. Both Bushes were and are progressive Republicans (RINOs). Others saw his success and jumped on but it wasn't till the tea party of the mid 00s that it took off. For atleast 15 years he virtually alone told the silent majority it's ok to love freedom and America. You aren't crazy or a weirdo. You aren't alone. Government is the problem, not the solution. He wasn't perfect by any means, nobody is, but he inspired people and that's enough.
